Review: Five Times More Jesus: Why Christians Should Decanonize the Old Testament by Jim Adam

Five Times More Jesus: Why Christians Should Decanonize the Old TestamentFive Times More Jesus: Why Christians Should Decanonize the Old Testament by Jim Adam
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

What kind of language does the author use? In most sections, the author has an ignorant tone as he presents his side of the story. Many of us at the book club would have appreciated a two sided argument and why he thinks the Old Testament should be 'decanonized'. What we got was an opinion based on a selection of bible verses.

Are there long- or short-term consequences to the issues raised in the book? The author expects long-term consequences. That is that by reading his book, people will be able to see the weaknesses of the Old Testament. But given the way the book is written and edited, I don't see this happening.

What solutions does the author propose? Because the Old Testament has so much violence and irrelevant content, it should no longer apply to Christians. This strikes me as someone who wants to pick and choose what is suitable to his needs. Good attempt but still a long way to go.
