A Beautiful, Glittering Lie by J.D.R. Hawkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
What I didn't like – Some parts of the book slowed down and I'm not sure why. It's as though the author wanted the readers to absorb everything she was saying before the pace picked up again. Some book club members liked this and others felt it was not necessary. I didn't like the slowness.
Did you find that the cover and title represented what the story was really about? Without a doubt. If you are to purchase a paperback version I bet the cover would glitter a little which would give more sense to the title but as we received an ebook copy, we were content with the oil painting (I think) battle scene on the cover.
What did you think of the story structure? Although the story moved from character to character giving readers different insights into what was happening at the same time, this is done smoothly and readers are not distracted or feel as if they have missed out on chunks of the story.
Disclosure - As a Quality Reads Book Club member, I received a free copy of this book from the author via Orangeberry Book Tours in exchange for my honest review.
